Blog: ACHH Initiative Website Launch

Dr. Margot Latimer co-lead with Sharon Rudderham, Eskasoni First Nation Health Director and Dr. Allen Finley, co-investigator and Director of the Centre for Pediatric Pain Research, are pleased to announce the launch of the ACHH Initiative website!  The ACHH Initiative (Aboriginal Children’s Hurt & Healing Initiative) is a joint project lead by a team of IWK Health Centre, Dalhousie University and First Nation Community Leaders and Members which focuses on understanding the expression and experience of pain in Aboriginal communities.  The ACHH team’s previous work suggests that there may be a disconnect in how Clinicians are typically taught to assess pain and how Aboriginal children and youth are socialized to express it.  In the coming months the ACHH Initiative team will be talking to First Nations community members to further explore this topic.  Check out the website – www.achh.ca – to learn more about the teams plans moving forward and how they hope to share this knowledge with the people who need it!
