Blog: Can you tell if kids have pain or not?

June 28th, 2011

We are looking for parents of children between the ages of 8 and 12 years of age to take part in an IWK research project to see how well parents can tell if kids are faking or hiding pain!

The study involves visiting the Centre for Pediatric Pain Research at the IWK for about 30-45 minutes, at a time that is convenient for you (including evenings and weekends).  A $10 donation will be made to the IWK Health Centre Foundation on behalf of each participant. Parents will receive $5 to help with transportation costs and to thank them for their time.

Please call 470-6906 to speak to a research assistant, or email katelynn.boerner@dal.ca to find out more about the study!

We are looking for pediatricians, pediatric nurses, and pediatric physiotherapists who work at the IWK Health Centre to take part in a research project to learn about how well different medical professionals and parents can tell if kids are faking, hiding, or genuinely experiencing pain.

The study involves visiting the Centre for Pediatric Pain research here at the IWK for about 30-45 minutes, at a time that is convenient for you (including evenings and weekends). We can also conduct the study elsewhere in the IWK, if you have a quiet room with a desk available.

You will receive a drink and baked good to thank you for your time. A $10 donation will be made to the IWK Health Centre Foundation on behalf of each participant.

Please call 470-6906 to speak to a research assistant, or email katelynn.boerner@dal.ca to find out more about the study!
