Blog: New Grant for Dr. Latimer
August 16th, 2010
Congratulations to Dr. Margot Latimer on being awarded a Nova Scotia Health Research Foundation Research Enterprise Development Initiative Catalyst Award. The project, entitled Understanding Pediatric Pain in Aboriginal Communities, seeks to identify and actively engage community members from the largest First Nations reserve in Nova Scotia, Eskasoni, to participate in the development of a research enterprise. The initiative is designed to explore how pain is perceived, interpreted, and responded to by children and their families, by community health professionals, and by members in the Mi’kmaw community of Eskasoni. Dr. Latimer will lead a team that includes Co-Investigators Dr. Allen Finley (IWK) and Dr. Stephanie Inglis (CBU), Community Project Coordinator Shelley Young, Research Program Manager Martin Laycock, and Research Assistant Sharon Amey.
