Global Advocacy for Children’s Pain Managment

Much of our research is intended to change practice as well as create new knowledge. The collaborative project with the Faculdade de Medicina–Ribeirão Preto, Universidade de São Paulo in Brazil is a good example of this. Watch for other projects coming soon!

The ChildKind International Initiative (http://childkindinternational.org) will establish accreditation criteria to certify hospitals worldwide that address children’s pain prevention, assessment, and treatment. ChildKind is an program of the Special Interest Group on Pain in Childhood of the International Association for the Study of Pain, and has a multidisciplinary working group representing 15 countries. We are working in collaboration with the World Health Organization. See the ChildKind website for regular updates.
