Blog: New grant for Dr. Latimer

Congratulations to Dr. Margot Latimer on being awarded a NSHRF Establishment grant for the project “Understanding Pediatric Pain in Aboriginal Communities: Expression, Interpretation and Health”!  This 3 year $150,000 grant seeks to 1) determine how Aboriginal children express their pain and how this pain is interpreted by parents, health care professionals, teachers and elders, 2) to identify a self report pain assessment instrument as well as pain management strategies that are relevant to Aboriginal cultural perspectives, and 3) to pilot test the community identified pain assessment instrument.
